The Nebula suspension lamp designed by Studiomirei won the Salone Satellite Award at the 10th edition of the Salone Satellite. It was judged by an international jury of leading figures from the design world - designers Davide Groppi, Luca Nichetto and Eugeni Quitllet; journalists Silvia Nani (Corriere della Sera) and Ellen Froissart (Associate Editor, Bee Medias publishing group); Giuliano Mosconi, President and CEO of Tecno/Zanotta; Stefano Seletti, Creative Director, Seletti and Marc Zehntner, Director, Vitra Design Museum – chaired from the very first edition by Paola Antonelli (Senior Curator of the Department of Architecture and Design at MoMA New York and curator of the XXII Triennale di Milano).
The award is a residency program sponsored by the Rong Design Library in China, which takes place in the local village of Hangzhou. The program lasts for one month and includes the travel, food and accommodation, as well as a workspace and assistants. During this period the winning designer will be introduced to traditional Chinese culture and, thus inspired, will be free to complete a project of her own choice.
Since the beginning, Studiomirei supports the transformation to a more sustainable society by distributing the studio expertise to local communities, and this award is an exciting opportunity to be able to contribute to this cause. The studio tries to use the power of design and business to contribute in solving social and environmental issues.
